A collaboration built around one of skateboarding's most iconic figures and images, the
Dave
Hackett Packet bundle brings together the Deathbox x Hackett Slash Street Deck, the
Special Hall of Fame Edition T-Shirt, and the legendary David Hackett photograph that inspired it all.
We teamed up with
Deathbox and David Hackett to bring the Hackett Slash graphic to a deck anyone can ride. The original artwork was created by
Marc McKee for a benefit supporting Hackett during his recovery from cancer. We loved the artwork and saw an opportunity to bring it back in a new way—on a board that celebrates both the history and the people behind it.
The
Hackett Slash Street Deck is available in
8.3", 8.5", and 8.75". Each size comes with its own graphic color, printed on stained veneer in a variety of colors. If you have a preferred veneer color, you can leave a note at checkout and we'll do our best to accommodate it, but specific colors cannot be guaranteed.
The bundle also includes the
Special Hall of Fame Edition T-Shirt, celebrating the legendary career of Dave “Hackman” Hackett.
Born in 1960 and raised in Malibu, California, Hackett started skateboarding at just five years old on a steel-wheeled Roller Derby board. By 14, he had won his first bank riding contest, and at 15 he claimed his first World Title in Jr. Men’s Slalom at the Hang Ten World Contest. He soon began riding schools and pools alongside the infamous Z-Boys, including Jay Adams, Wentzle Ruml, and Steven Picciolo.
A two-time World Champion and lifelong surf-skater, Hackett became an early pioneer of extreme skateboarding. From jumping a rocket skateboard over three cars to pioneering Bionic Airs, winning major pool and bowl events, and appearing on the covers of more than 10 skateboarding magazines, his career spans decades of skateboarding history. His signature move—the
Hackett Slash—became his calling card and one of skateboarding's most recognizable maneuvers.
At age 46, Hackett added another milestone to his career by becoming the oldest professional skateboarder to conquer the infamous
Loop of Death. In 2018, he was inducted into the
Skateboarding Hall of Fame. To commemorate the occasion, Deathbox® Skateboards produced 100 custom handmade boards at Watson Lam featuring a famous early-'80s photograph of the Hackett Slash at the Gonzales pool in Venice, shot by Ray Flores.
The
Special Hall of Fame Edition T-Shirt celebrates that history. Made in the USA from
100% super-soft, preshrunk, fitted ring-spun cotton, it features a tagless neck, double-needle bottom hem and sleeves, shoulder-to-shoulder taping, and a cover-seamed neck.
The shirt is produced using
digital printing rather than traditional silk screening, creating a smoother, lighter print that breathes better. For the best longevity, we recommend washing the shirt inside out on a gentle cycle.
Completing the bundle is the
24" x 36" Hackett Slash Poster, featuring Glenn E. Friedman's legendary 1983 photograph of David Hackett performing his signature Frontside Hackett Slash at Dolores' pool in Orange County, California. The session included Steve Olson, Tony Alva, Johnny Ray, and Jay Alabama, and the photograph has gone on to become one of the defining images of early pool skating.
Originally photographed in 1983, the image has inspired tattoos, paintings, graphics, logos, and countless pieces of skate culture over the decades. This poster was produced to commemorate Hackett's induction into the
Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2018, with a portion of proceeds benefiting the Skateboarding Hall of Fame Museum.
One legend. One signature move. Three pieces of skateboarding history.
