MJ channeled his older brother Michael for this crazy edit him and T-Mag worked on. A must see and one of T-Mag’s best edits, according to himself.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eAt the same time, Plan B had just started and miraculously, Mike Ternasky had persuaded Rodney Mullen to join the cadre of elite skateboarders. Everyone was waiting to see what this new company of rippers with Mike T at the helm was actually going to look like, artistically and graphically. This was also a time when sublimated slick bottom graphics had become a new innovation in skateboarding manufacturing and photos were able to print on a skateboard in a more lifelike and realistic fashion than anytime before. The 90’s was a revolutionary time on all sorts on non-skateboarding fronts as well, with the advent of Grunge and Hip-hop as music genres and creative people were pushing the envelope on every front, including technology.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eIt was in this moment that Mike T and Rodney Mullen created Rodney’s motorcycle graphic, with him riding it and his girl standing up topless behind him with a defiant “F you” look and attitude to the world.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eWe don’t know much about the graphic, like who took the photo, who’s idea it was or really anything about it at all. Just what we saw and how we were impacted by the statement of this daring and brilliant graphics idea and composition. It was clear that Plan B would be a force to be reckoned with, in every imageable way.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eFor reasons that are lost to history, Marcelle never had a Pro board on H-Street and skateboarding in the 90’s seemed a bit lost at sea in general. During the Summer of 2021 at a creative meeting in Mission Beach, during Danny’s Big Wednesday event he’s resurrected with Darin Navarette, Mag and Marcelle talked about Rodney’s MC graphic, how great it was and the idea of turning that into a re-imagined version for the long-awaited Marcelle Johnson Model. What was a fun idea at a crazy skateboard sesh quickly turned into reality, once Chris Dangaard got involved.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eMarcelle got together with his girl, T-Mag and Chris and using Mag’s bike, they created a tribute to one of the most controversial and progressive graphics of the 90’s, Rodney Mullen’s Plan B Motorcycle graphic. It’s an appreciation statement of strong and independent minded female’s, 90’s skateboarding and whoever created Rodney’s graphic and concept in the first place.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp data-mce-fragment=\"1\"\u003eThis idea and concept were shared with several of our highly skilled artists, with promises of their own illustrated versions of the classic graphic, featuring Marcelle of course. When asked about it, Mag just said, “it’s in the eye of the beholder” and left it that. Truth is, this board was designed in 2018 by Todd, who has a whole story about how this design came about and due to circumstances known only to T-Mag, we ended up 3 years behind this rather special celebration.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIf you ask Mag, H-Street was founded in 1985, since that is when all original plans were formed in his Swedish Meatball head. Which is what he’d say, if you asked him. Products really came out in 1987, so we were behind even in 2018. But better late than never, as they say. Especially since the graphic is totally awesome.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIn 2017, Todd had inquired with us if H-Street was the brand that had done T-Mag’s Going To Hell graphic that our legendary OG artist Francesco Jekill Albertini had designed back in the late 80’s, which of course we confirmed. Todd had managed to crack his skull riding that board and has only a partial deck that remains of that deck, that is also all scratched up. So he wasn’t totally sure.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHim and Mag got talking about doing the anniversary deck and Todd came up with the concept of all the OG H-Street characters coming back from Hell, kinda relating to the experience that most older skaters have, in fact, having gone to Hell and Back. While he was working on his new mold idea at the UWS factory around ‘84, the guys at the shop thought the thing looked crazy and essentially, unskateable. As a fun prank, they left a note on Mag’s work late one night that just said “Hell Concave”. T-Mag thought the joke was funny and also thought they may be onto something and just adopted the moniker for his new Concave design that would create some controversy; it seemed everyone had an opinion. Some people loved it and swore by it, others not so much.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eLater, Mike Ternasky came up with this T-Shirt design that was a play off this 80’s British pop dude “Frankie Goes To Hollywood” and we made the also rather infamous T-Shirt design that said “Tony Says Go To Hell”, with the word “concave” real small below that text.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSo Francesco made a graphic, showing what that trip might look like. This was one of the toughest re-draw’s that T-Mag did, it was in the works for a few years.
