This is the Tony Mag Born Free T-Shirt, drawn by Stevie Caballero, which is also a deck art colab. The T-Shirts are fitted 100% Cotton of exceptional high quality. We are super stoked to offer this unique art collaboration between the two legendary skateboarders.
Here’s how Tony Mag put it;
“I first saw Stevie Caballero skate in the early 80’s, probably at the first contest I entered at Del Mar Skate Ranch when I had just gotten to California from Sweden. I think I was 17 and he might have been 13 or 14. I was totally blown away at how smooth and comfortable he looked on a skateboard and at the precision and style that was going down.
Since then, I’ve skated with Stevie a ton over the years, all over the world and more so lately, as he moved to San Diego. Earlier in the year, I was at one of his art shows and saw this graphic he had drawn that really spoke to me personally, since I’ve always been really into the free spirited and “Born Free” culture of skateboarding, which is not unlike that of the MC community. I’ve ridden a bike for years and love everything about motorcycles. Like Stevie, I’m a huge Evel Knievel fan. It was actually Mike Ternasky that really got me into Evel and explained the Born Free culture of both skateboarding and MC, which I had not thought of before then.
The idea of having a graphic of mine drawn by one of the biggest legends in skateboarding was also just fantastic and a huge honor, so I couldn’t have been more stoked to have Stevie agree to the colab.
Tee is 100% super soft preshrunk and fitted ring-spun cotton, tag-less with a double needle bottom hem and sleeves. Shoulder-to-shoulder taping, cover seamed neck.
We are doing this with our new T-Shirt print partners that do digital printing, which is different from silk screening. You will get a smoother and lighter print that “breathes” better than silk screening. All T-Shirts hold up better with a gentle wash cycle, inside out.
Made in the USA
Tony Mag started skateboarding in Stockholm, Sweden when skateboarding swept the country in 1976. After spending a few years at the top of the Swedish skateboard scene, T-Mag won the National Championship and toured the nation. The young T-Mag decided to pursue his life dream of becoming the best skateboarder in the world and jumped on a plane to California at age 16 in 1980.
T-Mag became a “park local” skateboarder at the legendary Del Mar Skate Ranch and decided to learn how to make skateboards. He immersed himself in the business of designing, manufacturing, marketing and selling them.
While the beginning was humble, over a 45-year time span, T-Mag has traveled the world as a professional skateboarder, started multiple successful companies in the action sports industry, besides H-Street Skateboards and still rides a skateboard today.
