El Gato pretty much single handedly took skateboarding from a surfer style Dogtown lifestyle to a technical and more physically demanding art form in the late 70’s and into the early 80’s. Inventing and perfecting vert tricks such as the "Elguerial" and the "Frontside Rock-n-Roll". El Gatos innovation helped advance and inspire the next generation of skaters that he would eventually skate with on H-Street in the late 80’s.
