The Matt Hensley original Kingsize Hornblower was Matt’s second Pro Model on H-Street and it came out in around the same time as the mini board in the late 80’s. The Hornblower was also made on a different shape, much closer to the Street Swinger but with a bigger nose (thus shorter wheelbase) which we think came out before this shape. Because this shape is what Matt wanted to re-issue and he has as an original from back then, we opted for this more progressive shape.

The Kingsize is made in the original shape and old school hole pattern and was one of the first boards of that era to be double drilled, as more street skating of that time required a shorter wheelbase and for a few years, the double drill was quite common, in order to provide this additional functionality.

The graphics to the Hornblower were drawn by Jeff Klindt, who himself has a very storied and legendary past with H-Street and as an artist, musician and very accomplished skater at the time. Jeff can be seen skating in the original H-Street videos and his art and music were an important part of our history.

Matt’s boards are handmade at Legend Skates with original silk screen techniques by Screaming Squeegees.

The Hydro Dip is a special treatment that creates a totally unique background image and the image on this page is a representation of the process.

About Matt Hensley

Matt Hensley started to ride a skateboard in the late 70’s, while all the really great skate parks were still around. His local park was Surf de Earth Skatepark in Vista CA, where many of the legendary San Diego Pro’s, like Doug “Pineapple” Saladino, Dennis Martinez, Shogo Kubo and Dave Andrecht also skated.

During the 80’s, Matt became a household name in the world of skateboarding through his unique approach, style and progressive street skating, in which he and a few other super talented young street riders would change skateboarding forever.

In 2018, Matt got inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame, Matt remains a legend in skateboarding and significant part of H-Street, both past and present.
